Abschalten in Tihange

Originally a centerfold in the MOVIE beta October 2016 issue. Now an even bigger DIN A2 poster.
For years the quite rotten Belgian nuclear reactors in Tihange and Doel are posing a threat to anyone living downwind of them. With the wind in this area of Europe usually blowing from the West the city of Aachen would lie directly in the corridor of radioactive fallout. Ever since the news came out that scientists had counted more than 3000 cracks in the Tihange reactor #2’s pressure tank, posters and stickers with the radiation icon and the slogan ‘SHUT TIHANGE OFF’ or ‘TIHANGE ABSCHALTEN’ have popped up in thousands of cars and home and shop windows throughout the Aachen region.
This poster is meant to be a Gandhi-style satirical approach to the Belgian government and the operator Engie Electrabel ignoring the risks. In German ‘abschalten’ has two meanings: ‘to shut off’, but also ‘to tune off’ or ‘to relax’. Good for this poster
